According to the results of the Chinese patent search analysis published by the company from 1985 to 2011, before 1995, there were very few patent applications in the domestic fluorosilicone new materials industry; the number of applications from 1995 to 2000 increased somewhat, but the growth rate was relatively high. It is stable; after 2000, the number of applications has increased rapidly and continues to maintain a high growth trend. However, from the point of view of patent applicants, the U.S. has the largest number of applications and the most advanced technology; Japan and Germany follow closely and maintain a high level.

Liu Yudong believes that this search result reflects, to some extent, the development history and patent protection status of the fluorosilicon industry. In the field of fluorine materials, patent applications of US and Japanese companies such as DuPont, Daikin, 3M, and Asahi Glass accounted for about 60% of the total in China. Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Donghua University, Shanghai University, Dongyue Shenzhou New Materials Co., Ltd. And so on have a certain share. Only the United States DuPont company in the fluorine material processing, application of patents accounted for more than 20% of the total. It is evident from the differences in the gap in technological level between this country and the world and the awareness of intellectual property rights.

In the area of ​​silicon materials, Dow, Wacker, Shin-Etsu Chemical, Rhodia, General Electric and other multinational corporations have applied for more than 75% of the total patent applications in China, and only Dow patents on silicon materials technology. The quantity is more than 20% of the total number. There is only a certain percentage of domestic chemical institutes and Zhejiang University in China, and there is a huge gap between the silicon material companies in this area.

Liu Yudong pointed out that from the analysis of the technical field of patents, the patent applications for the production of adhesives using silicon materials are not large, and it is expected to become the potential direction for the next development of silicon materials.

"In order to enable new chemical material companies to master a number of core patents and use the monopoly of patented technology to achieve competition with developed countries, the industry must plan and lay out an intellectual property strategy as early as possible."
