"Powder metallurgy" as a green manufacturing technology for material saving, energy saving, environmental protection, short process precision and complex parts has become a must for new material strategy. Han Wei, secretary-general of the Strategic Alliance for Technology Innovation in the Powder Metallurgy Industry, told the Science and Technology Daily that the powder metallurgy products are widely used in key industries such as metallurgy, machinery, automobiles, motorcycles, home appliances, textiles, chemicals, environmental protection and energy.

The recent nanotechnology process and nano-powder products have also been added to the emerging field of powder metallurgy, highlighting the importance of new powder metallurgy technologies, new processes and new materials. Han Wei said that powder metallurgy technology has always been a topic of material science in the world. It can be expected that powder metallurgy will play a more important role in the fields of national defense military, modern automobile, high-end equipment for machine tools, new-generation information technology basic devices, new medical equipment, and energy.
