Application of laser scanning vibrometer in drilling processing

Vibration can cause great problems when drilling. On the one hand, it affects the quality, on the other hand, it may cause the tool to break and cause production interruption. In order to avoid such problems, the tool vibration should be measured and corrected in time. The results show that the laser scanning vibrometer is suitable for measuring the relevant dimensions of single-edged deep hole drilling.

Tool vibration is a major problem encountered during drilling. The adaptable adjustment system can detect and adjust in time when the tool vibrates. This requires an accurate knowledge of the vibration characteristics of the tool structure. The following describes how to determine the modal parameters of a single-edged deep hole drill by experimental modal analysis of a laser scanning vibrometer. The most familiar method for dynamic system vibration analysis is modal analysis. This method, also considered as a natural vibration analysis, can determine parameters such as the natural frequency, damping, and morphology of the system.

Modal analysis is based on the principle that the dynamic deformation of the structure is the weighted sum of its morphologies. Each mode is derived from the vibration parameters of a structure and the precise degrees of freedom. When the structure is subjected to vibration, all modal reactions are proportional to the movement of the entire structure. By summarizing the modal reactions, the corresponding structural reactions can become specific excitation frequencies. The cognition of modal parameters can realize the description of the dynamic state of the system, and it is also an important basis for the series of explorations of model formation. The various models are based on simplified settings and are forced to some degree of uncertainty.

How vibrating systems perform in practice is often clarified only on the basis of experimental exploration. Experimental modal analysis is one of the most important measurement methods in this respect and depends on the model observation of the structure. The actual dynamic characteristics of the system can be obtained by measuring the transfer function of each measurement point of the system. In this regard, the corresponding excitation source is used to stimulate the structure of the inquiry, and the reaction of the system at each measurement point is measured. The signal measured over the time range is converted to a frequency range by means of the Fast-Fourier transmission principle, and a system with a transmission function is derived from the reference signal. From this, modal parameters such as natural frequency, damping and self-property can be measured. During the drilling process, a frequency range of up to 5000 Hz is meaningful. Therefore, the limited number of natural vibrations is sufficient to describe the dynamic characteristics of a structure, while for lower frequencies, the phenomenon of increased frequency resonance occurs.

The laser vibrometer is a non-contact and optical type measurement method for the mechanical vibration process. The measurement principle is based on the optical frequency shift. When the measurement point of the vibration structure is discrete, the laser beam can be measured by the frequency shift. This method has no reaction and allows the application of sensitive structures and components in a large number of applications, while in the latter case, contact-type sensing elements cannot be used due to object characteristics and environmental parameters. In particular, a laser Doppler vibration measuring device was established as a non-contact measuring technique to measure structural vibration. In this regard, the relative motion between the transmitter and the receiver of the electromagnetic wave and the light wave causes a change in the frequency or wavelength that is affected by the speed.
