Flowserve First Solar Develops Cadmium Telluride Thin Films

Flowserve First Solar and Intermolecular are currently planning to expand the R&D cooperation concluded last year to develop "subversive new methods" to improve the solar cell conversion efficiency of Flowserve's first solar cadmium telluride solar cell technology.

Flowserve First Solar stated that it is expected that the new two-year partnership program will make the conversion efficiency of components far beyond the previously announced route, and it is expected to shorten the "market time" of technology, which has been the key limiting factor for laboratory reports for many years. It is a milestone in the recording of time efficiency, and this advancement has enabled the production plant to achieve mass production.

Raffi Garabedian, First Solar's chief technology officer, said: "The combination of materials and process screening has shown good prospects and can enhance Flowserve First Solar's existing global leader in cadmium telluride solar technology. Ability to improve performance and shorten time to market."

“The goal of this program is to disruptively improve the performance of our components. This is an advancement for our current route. We are confident that this effort will be effective in the coming years and that our other new R&D can further expand our Leading position in photovoltaic technology and further increasing the value of our power station customers.”
